Though posting on my blog has taken a back seat, the recent posts regarding R' Slifkin on Hirhurim is keeping me reluctantly active in the blogosophere.
I
R' Gil posted a chapter of Slifkin's "Challenge of Creation" available on-line here.
It was fairly easy to find the "devastating problems" with Slifkin's attempts to dismantle the traditional approaches. I always find it surprising that people have to keep bluffing and insulting my education before I can get straight answers to very simple questions about the certainty of scientific knowledge in matters of origin.
I was also dismayed to see how many Orthodox Jews really think the drashos of Chazal regarding Ma'aseh Bereishis are simply guesses and conjectures based on the primitive knowledge of cosmology that existed in ancient times. The depth of inferiority complexes these people have regarding their own tradition and sages is staggering.
My comments can be found in this post. The Anonymous commenter at the end of the thread who takes on Y. Aharon is worth reading.

II
R' Gil also posted a full length rebuttal of R' Slifkin published in the Jewish Press in response to his critics (including me)
I commented extensively there, dueling with DBH after the first 150 comments. Although the post is no longer up on the main page, the comments are still ongoing in the archives.
