Over Shevuos, someone pointed out to me that the position of Rav Soloveitchik regarding the status of Chazal's sevaros is given wider treatment in the sefer, Iggros HaGrid. The sefer is a collecting of divrei Torah written informally by the Rav during his earlier years before he headed RIETS.
However one long, formal piece which was previously printed in the HaPardes Journal in the 50's, was included because it clarified other pieces on the same topic elsewhere in the collection.
It tackles the thorny issue of the authority of the Talmud for all time as explained by the Rambam in his crucial introduction to the Mishna Torah. The piece attempts to clarify what halachic status was given to Chazal after the Sanhedrin was disbanded but before the closing of the Talmud.



Here are the relevant columns which elaborate on the definition of apikores for one who is מכחש מגידה. Needless to say, this was a well thought-out position of the Rav.
